The Picta Panel

Learn how to use the picta panel to configure and customize your charts.

Every picta panel can be collapsed or expanded. The panel header is always visible and shows:

  • Picta name
  • Duplicate icon — copies the picta with all its settings
  • Trash icon — deletes the picta
  • Up/down arrows (only when multiple pictas exist) — reorder pictas, like changing layers in the chart
  • Chevron — expand or collapse the panel

When expanded, the panel also shows settings organized as:

  1. Direct settings — text fields, number fields, dropdowns, and toggles shown immediately at the top
  2. Sections — expandable sub-panels with additional controls
  3. Shared settings — sections within sections, shared settings are used repeatedly across the picta panel, for instance the settings for a font are used for labels and for highlighted values, so the font section is a shared setting.

Not every setting or section applies to every picta type. DataPicta shows only the relevant options for the picta you're editing. For instance, the bars in a bar chart can have rounded corners, while a line chart cannot.
